Air Bubbles
I had an issue with one of my car tires where it kept going flat. Not daily, just every 2 weeks or so. I finally took it in to get looked at in hopes of it being a simple patch repair—or whatever they do.
They told me the tire was not fixable. It had an air bubble on the inside of it, and if I continued to drive it, it could explode, causing not only damage to my car, but anyone inside and around my car—imagine being on the freeway and this happened.
The funny thing is that when you looked at my car on the outside, there was nothing “wrong” with it in appearance. There was no hole or defects visible. My air bubble could be caused by a misalignment or unbalanced tire.
Are there areas in your life that you’re misaligned or unbalanced? Lifestyle changes you know you need to make. Or maybe you’re unaware, as I was with my tire, and at times in my own personal life.
On the outside, you look fine, you say the right words. “I’m doing good” often comes out of your mouth, but internally there is an air bubble inside of you. One wrong turn. A slight bump in the road, going too fast or even living on cruise control, and the air bubble ruptures and an explosion happens in our lives.
See, friend, when you and I have things inside of us, trauma, self-righteousness, anger, unforgiveness, addiction, pride, stress (too many to name), etc., we won’t see it on the outside, nobody does, but to continue going on about life and not healing or dealing with ourself internally is an accident waiting to happen.
Had I kept driving my car like that, it would have been reckless and selfish. I would have been putting the lives of those around me at stake. If you and I don’t take the time to see what’s going on internally, it is us simply being selfish and reckless.
I would love to say this post is all about you and the things internally in your life, but it’s not. It is a reminder for myself to sit and examine my own heart, my own “air bubble.”
So, I ask you, is there something internally you need to address? Something close to being an explosion. One wrong turn in your life, one wrong word they say/text. One more day living on cruise control—trying to be numb to the things around you.
I encourage you to sit down alone and ask God those verses, “search me, oh God.” The Giver of Life wants us healed. He wants, invites us to sit with Him and share what is deep, way below the surface. He wants to carry our burdens—Matthew 11:28.
I will add this, something’s aren’t meant to be processed alone. Especially things that are traumatic. I would encourage you to seek professional help to heal and process those in a safe and healthy way.
